About EPAD 2025

Mission & Vision

Although significant advances are being made in the fight against the disease, cancer remains a key public concern and a tremendous burden on European societies. Prostate cancer is either the leading or second leading cause of cancer death in men. It is the most frequently occurring male cancer in Europe.

As populations age and chronic diseases become more common, countries need to align their healthcare laws to improve care quality and outcomes while reducing costs. Ensuring equal access to effective, evidence-based care – particularly through the implementation of risk-based screening – will help reduce the burden of disease while improving outcomes and quality of life for patients across the EU.

The European Prostate Cancer Awareness Day (EPAD) brings together policymakers, scientific experts, and patient organisations to drive forward a shared agenda for prostate cancer, aligning efforts at EU level. Together, we aim to change the diagnosis and management of prostate cancer across Europe, to provide better care for patients.
